A day to myself

Today has out of the norm. I think for the first time since having little Jimmy and probably even before I had part of the day all to myself!! It was nice. Jimmy is at the riverhouse this weekend for a work weekend (replacing deck and a few other things) and Jimmy's parents wanted to spend some time with little Jim so they picked up before lunch. I went to Expectations maternity boutique to get a few new spring items. Jimmy had given me a gift certificate for my birthday. My favorite is this dress from Japanese Weekend. It is a dress and a skirt! I went to Motherhood yesterday with my parents and they got me a lot of cute things, too. Between what I already had, Ginny's wardrobe and the new additions I feel like I will be pretty set until October! I also went to Target today and got a cute new pair of gold sandals. I wanted to find some comfy maternity yoga pants, but they didn't have any. Then I went to see The Soloist this afternoon...solo...I can't remember the last time I saw a movie so I took advantage of the time and went by myself. I am not afraid! It was a nice day!

Celebrating Earth Day...sort of

I'm a single mom this weekend, though not to make light of single-parenting, it does give you a small view into life on your own with kids. Jimmy went on a guys weekend to Lake Keowee in South Carolina so little Jimmy and I are solo. Last night we went over to Sissy and Papas house for pizza and fun. Little Jimmy played with Jimmy's old tools and toolbox (circa late 1970's). Little Jimmy thought he was Handy Manny. They built trains and tool benches.

This morning in honor of Earth Day (and to get us out of the house) we went and bought some ferns at the Pig. Yes, the Pig. They were so good looking and inexpensive so I bought two for the containers on the deck. Then we went next door to Herb River Landscape and got a pot of geraniums and I let little Jimmy pick something small. (thought it would be fun, but also he would hold on to it and not touch anything else while I was looking-worth the 4 bucks). He got a small pot of begonias. He planted his begonia in little concrete bunny container that was left by the previous owners and his ears are a bit broken, but the perfect size for his plant. He also helped me plant the geraniums. Though, he was by far the best at watering. He watered everything-plants of course, but the fence, the driveway, his bike, the cat food bowl and most of all himself.

So here some other random thoughts:

1. Thinking of getting my blog pimped. Amanda got it done for her yet-to-be-published-but-highly-anticipated blog and thought it might add a little interest my loyal blog followers (me) and me.

2. We are starting home renovation phase #2. Luckily, this won't cause us to move out but on the punch list are the following: paint the exterior (Freddie D gave us a fair price, if you are looking for a painter he is your man), guest bathroom (new tile, sink, countertop, faucet and paint), kitchen (new countertops-granite, corian or silestone?), paint upstairs bedrooms for little Jimmy and our new arrival in October (oh, yeah, did I mention I am preggers too!)

3. Why blog? Well, I think of it more as a virtual diary/baby book. Don't worry, won't delve into the skeletons in my closet or bombard you with my political or religious views, but I am hoping that it will be fun to look back and remember the small details. I am hoping that this will stay in cyberspace forever, and if not, I could at least get a back-up copy.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We have had a fun Easter weekend. Some friends hosted an Easter egg hunt in Hull Park on Good Friday. Little Jimmy was a little overwhelmed by it all and managed to only get two eggs but he did like the goodies inside! We spent Saturday just being a little lazy, went to Lowe's and got a new rug for the den and then both little Jimmy and I napped while Jimmy watched the Masters. The Easter bunny visited us on Sunday morning and brought little Jimmy a new book "How do Dinosaurs say Good Night" some stickers and lots of yummy candy. We are headed to my parents house for dinner tonight and I am sure the Easter bunny left little Jimmy some goodies there too!

Oh...one funny (at least now) thing happened on Friday. After we got home from dinner on Friday, little Jimmy managed to get one of the egg dye pellets off the counter and thought it was a piece of candy and ate it! We didn't realize it until he started saying "don't like it" and spewing bright green stuff from his mouth. At first we weren't sure what it was...but finally managed to figure it out. It was crazy and got everywhere! It is made from food based ingredients to non-toxic and it also ended up coming out of his clothes, including the white polo shirt he was wearing. I was amazed. Now I wish I had taken a picture, but at the time, it freaked us out!

We had our own little Easter egg hunt Sunday morning. He has a nice chocolate face. Nothing like chocolate and sugar at 7:30 in the morning!

Goodies from the Easter bunny!

Here is a pic of him in his eBay outfit! He looked so cute!

Disaster!

I accidently washed and dried a pen and it has ruined the load of wash and got all inside the drum of the dryer. Disaster!! We got the dryer clean with some nail polish and I tried putting hairspray on the ink stains but it didn't work. The load was mostly socks and tshirts, but I did ruin a pair of little Jimmy's Polo shorts and a pair of Jimmy's shorts. Ugh!

A fun-filled weekend!

This was a busy weekend!! On Friday, I kept my adorable neice Amelia for a few hours while Ginny went to a bridesmaid luncheon. It was so great to spend some time with her! I had to work on Saturday (which was crazy and hectic!) and then Ashley's wedding was Saturday night. It was so much fun and she is just so happy! Some of my old SCAD buds were in town so it was fun catching up with them. We went to church on Sunday and then I met my SCAD buds for lunch downtown for even more catching up. I wish we could see each other more often. A few have moved away making it more difficult to get together, but when we do, it is good times all over again!

Here is a pic from Ashley's wedding:
