Our little actress!

Cecilia had the starring role as the baby Jesus in our church's Nativity pageant! It was so cute! It was put on by the children of the church (K-5). Cecilia did such a good job and didn't fuss or cry. Mary was so sweet and did great with her. She is the oldest of four so she definitely knew how to handle a little baby. We were so proud and excited that she played such an important role (or THE most important role!) in the pageant.

Merry Christmas!!

Okay, a few days late, but with everything going on there is no time for blogging!! We had a great Christmas and Santa was good to everyone! Breakfast with the Brooks Christmas Eve, church, then to the Smith's. Christmas morning at our house and my parents came for breakfast and then Christmas dinner at Jimmy's parents. We had Christmas with my parents yesterday. Jimmy and Cecilia got lots and lots of presents!! Too many I am sure. Santa brought him some Toy Story stuff and a John Deere tractor! He got a bike from Mimi and Papa Joe and a Cars rolling suitcase from Sissy and Papa and more! Cecilia got a learning tea set and my mom started a Christmas china collection for her. Holidays keep us busy!

The holidays keep us busy! Jimmy is swamped at work and now with two kids I haven't had much time to blog! It was good to be on maternity leave all of December as it made it a little less hectic. We've had a lot going on these past two weeks

We went to the annual Debtors (men's social club in Savannah) party. This year it was at the Pink House and it was fun and the food was wonderful! It is always a black tie affair so fun to get dressed up.

My friend Kelly had her annual Cookie and Champagne party for our friends from work. She bakes the cookies and then we come over and decorate and drink champagne! We always have so much fun and end up with some great cookies to take home.

I had the opportunity last week to go to tea at the home of SCAD's President, Paula Wallace. I have worked at SCAD for 9 1/2 years and I have never met her. There was a small group and we had the chance to talk about what we did at SCAD and just talk and visit. Her home was beautiful and looked fabulous for the holidays. Of course, the artwork was TO DIE FOR. I got the opportunity to tell her how thankful I was to be able to work part-time and job share.

Cecilia had her 2 month check-up and is doing great. She weighed 12.12 pounds and is in the 89th percentile!

Our friend Jennifer (Jimmy's middle school girlfriend, ha!) had a birthday/holiday party last Friday and we had a fun time visiting with friends. Here is a pic from the party:



Saturday we had our Kelley family dinner at Garibaldi's. It was so yummy! I am still thinking about the grouper and lobster risotta.

The biggest highlight was Cecilia had the part of the baby Jesus in our Church's Nativity Pageant. She did a great job and didn't cry while on stage. The girl playing Mary could not have been sweeter and did a fabulous job. She is the oldest of 4 and really knew how to handle a baby! We weren't able to take pictures during the production but I hope to get some pictures the church took soon!

Tonight is our friends annual "Night before the night before" party. Looking forward to seeing some great friends.

Tomorrow church, Christmas Eve at the Smiths and then hopefully Santa will come! Merry Christmas!!

Santa's Lap

Santa visited Jimmy's class yesterday. Of course he will sit on his lap for his teacher but when I took him to see Santa on Friday all he would do is give him a high-five! He asked Santa for Woody and Buzz and cars and trucks. We will have to see what Santa will bring!

Cecilia 8 weeks!

Between Jimmy's 3rd birthday and Cecilia now at 8 weeks I feel like time is zipping past me! Cecilia is getting so big! She is definitely turning into a little chunky monkey which I love! We might have to move up to Size 2 diapers pretty soon! Her smiles are the best and she is starting to coo a little bit. She is an easy going baby and is a pretty good sleeper. She will sleep about 5 hours and then wake up to eat and then go back to sleep for about 3 hours.

Happy 3rd Birthday to Jimmy!!

I can't believe my little baby is 3!! I know everyone says that but it is true! I wish I could show down time because it is passing too quickly. We celebrated his birthday all weekend! His party was planned for Saturday but it was forecasted to be cold and rainy so I called the moms and rescheduled for Friday morning at the park up the street. It worked out great and almost everyone was able to make it. It was a little chilly and overcast but the kids didn't care. Everyone enjoyed running around and playing. As long as there is cake, everyone is happy! It is so funny how I had been stressing, planning and thinking about his birthday for months and I ended up just doing everything in a day! I think next years party will be planned for indoors! You never know in December...it could be 80 degrees or 50 degrees. Here are a few pics from his birthday:






Yesterday we had a family party and Jimmy had so much fun. We gave him a Toy Story sleeping bag (complete with flashlight and compass) in the morning and he loved it. We also gave him a guitar (or GUH-tar as he would say it) and he loved that as well. He actually played the guitar while we sang "Happy Birthday." We also gave him a little computer but he was none too interested so I think I am going to pack that one up for next year! It said it was for ages 3-6 but it was even a little hard for us to figure out the games! Sissy and Papa gave him a Buzz Lightyear and I woke up this morning to "I am Buzz Lightyear" over and over. He got a set of Matchbox cars and a garage from Mimi and Papa Joe. Aunt Gin Gin and Uncle Marty gave him a roaring dinosuar. He had a great birthday!

Almost 3...

Jimmy's birthday party is Saturday! I have been fretting about the weather...rain, no rain, warm, cold? As of now it looks like it will be sunny and around 56. A little chilly but they will be running around on the playground and won't really care! I went to Party City and got a bunch of dinosaur decorations, ordered dinosaur cookies from Two Smart Cookies and a dinosaur cake from Bakers Pride.

Tomorrow is his special day at school so will be baking some cupcakes today! Birthdays are so fun!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

We got our proofs back from our photo shoot with Christine Hall yesterday and I placed my Christmas card order this morning. I am so excited. She is really amazing! From the pictures you could not tell what a crazy, hot, chaotic day it was and she really captured the moment. Hope to get a proof by next week and then mail them out the week of the 14th. I am also incorporating Cecilia's birth announcement.

Thankful!

We had a great Thanksgiving with my parents. It was a very low key relaxed day and we all just enjoyed being together. Today (Black Friday!) we decided to brave the crowds and go to Fresh Market and the MALL! Yes, we are crazy! But we wanted to go to Belk to take advantage of some of the early bird sales so that Jimmy could get a sport coat and some new pants. He doesn't have to dress up for work and has a couple of suits for church and a tux but needed some more casual dress clothes so that he doesn't wear the "college" uniform of khakis and a blue blazer. We got a couple of really good deals on some Ralph Lauren items. He is going to be looking good this holiday season!

Thanksgiving Feast

Jimmy had a Thanksgiving Feast at school on Tuesday. Several classes of preschoolers ages 2-4 all came together for one big feast as Pilgrims and Indians. They ate turkey, corn, green beans, corn muffins, and pumpkin bread!! Looks like Jimmy was a pilgrim. I would like to know how much of the yummy food he ate. Probably just the pumpkin bread! Ha! Jimmy's teacher Mrs. Hibberts is wonderful and often shares pictures of what they do during school. Here are a couple of her pictures from the big feast! Of the many things I am thankful for this year, I am definitely thankful for our wonderful church and the amazing preschool program and his teachers!

Jimmy-6 weeks

I didn't have a blog when Jimmy was a baby. I don't think I knew what a blog was at that point. I think I thought blogs were only political since I had heard about them in the 2004 elections. So, I wanted to post a pic of Jimmy at 6 weeks just to compare. Do you think they look alike? Does one favor Jimmy or me more?

Cecilia is 6 weeks old as of last Monday! I feel like she has gotten so big! She is starting to smile which is fun. I think she can recognize my voice and will follow me with her eyes if I am not holding her. She is sleeping pretty well-about 3-4 hours a night. She has been a pretty easy going baby. Doesn't fuss or cry too much and when she does we can pretty much figure out what she wants-food, new diaper, just to be held, sleepy, etc.

She is smiling here because she just spit up (which is why her clothes are half on/half off) and I think she felt much better!


We are looking forward to our first Thanksgiving as a family of four. We have so much to be thankful for this year. It will be a low key Thanksgiving as we will be going to my parents house and it will be just the four of us, Jimmy III and Cecilia.

Potty Training Woes

Potty Training=NIGHTMARE!!! Jimmy will be three on December 6 and has off and on showed interest in the potty so we decided to try potty training this past weekend. Needless to say that he is still pooping and peeing in his pants. I've read and asked for advice and the main common thread I see is that it is different for every child. Would you agree?? He now refuses to sit on the potty and the potty surprise bag is not enticing him at all. He even went to Wal-Mart with Jimmy to pick out his potty and get some big boy underwear (though Jimmy got size 4T! I had some others luckily!). I think we are going to have to try again in a few weeks. I am praying for patience.



Curious to hear if anyone else's children potty trained between 3-3 1/2 years? I feel all I hear is that most train before 3.

Show Us Your Life-Pets

Show us your life Friday at Kelly's Korner is about pets and I have a few...

We have three cats. I know, I can hardly believe it myself coming from a girl who grew up with 0 pets. We did have a little box turtle named Charlene for a few weeks if that counts. But she died when we went on vacation. Other than that no pets. My parents said I was allergic to pets as so was my brother. I am a little skeptical of that now as I have three cats and no allergy problems. Maybe my brother was allergic and it was just easier to say I was too so that they wouldn't hear the constant nagging to get a pet.

Jimmy grew up with lots of pets. Dogs, cats, bunnies, flying squirrels to name a few so a few months after we got married he suggested we get a cat. We went to the Humane Society and got Pumpkin, who turned into our very large tabby cat. Then we decided to get a second cat to keep Pumpkin company and we got Jack from our vet. That was it, until a pregnant calico cat showed up on our back porch in Ardsley Park. We took care of her and gave away her kitties and she ended up as ours as well. When we moved to Isle of Hope she quickly transformed into another lady of leisure and adapted well to being an inside cat as all of ours are. So here are a few pics:

Indian Cookout

Jimmy had an Indian cookout at school yesterday. They had special Indian snacks (cheerios, raisins, marshmallows, m&m's) and cooked pretend buffalo meet (big marshmallows) over a pretend fire. Jimmy made such a cute little chief!

Cecilia-1 month!

Happy one month birthday (yesterday) to Cecilia!! I wanted to get this post up yesterday, but it just didn't happen! Gotta just roll with it...







Little Jim is quite the multi-tasker! Here he is playing his guitar and eating a popsicle. He is singing and playing his favorite song"If I Had Eyes"by Jack Johnson. We DVR'ed Jack Johnson's En Concert and Jimmy plays it in the car for him. He calls it "Daddy's Song"
